I Should Have Known

I made the mistake of letting
A frightened part of the world
Into my psyche this morning.
A flash of images
Crying out in fear
At the sight of me.
A hall of mirrors showing
People their ghosts clothed
In transgender red flags
Waving across their blindness.
I should have known better,
And now I'll spend hours
Painting over the angry words
Scrawled on the fence around
My heart.

  1. Please scrawl these words in bright pink paint on the fence around your heart for me:

    YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL.

...and love for you... just the way you are!

My it seems to have been so long since we've seen each other! I'm ushering this weekend but if you save me a seat I'll slip in for the sermon and a quick hello ;) I've been off in la la land for weeks and not functioning in the real world on most days it seems. In any event, I hope all is well with you and am excited to see you someday soon :)
